Final Blog Post

My viewpoint of social media has changed as the class inspired me to soul search as to the reason I started my business.  It was really to help women going through their breast cancer journey have a more comfortable recovery and feel better inside and out.  Since I have learned so much in the past 14 years through plastic surgery conventions, a local support group and reading about breast cancer and reconstructive surgeries, I would like to provide some resources for my customer base through a blog and/or Facebook.

I know that I can use Facebook to reach out to my target consumer audience, but it is better for me to market directly to the surgeons so they can filter referrals (right garment and size for the right procedure at the right time—reducing returns),   I can also try LinkedIn to find and reach head plastic surgeons at top hospitals.  I would also like to research groups that may be beneficial that I can provide content to.  I have found that surgeons are thirsty for a patient’s perspective.

This class has been quite inspirational in that I now have a great start to a content plan.  I finally documented holidays by month and can tie those into my business.  I really like the rule of thirds to make the content more interesting to keep people engaged and returning.  I know my customers appreciate the help and encouragement I have given to them on a personal basis.

The class has also encouraged me to plan a variety of channels.  I can write a monthly  newsletter via email for both surgeons and customers ( I may have to  edit them though).  I believe holiday posts on FB can be fun and engaging with history, fun facts and/or a tie into breast cancer or women.  I can even create surveys via email for future products.

I also will review and monitor what my competitors and leaders in the field are doing to get ideas and try a different personal twist for social media.  I can also promote this in the surgical community, which is again, my primary target.  Thank you for the assignments which were really valuable to getting organized and developing a strategic plan.   I would welcome any suggestions from you for my business.

Strategically,

Marla Hope

Week 1A:  Let's get blogging This is my first go at creating a blog and posting to it so that you will be interested in reading it and coming back for more information.  Therefore, let’s start at the beginning; choosing a theme to entice you.   Here are the reasons I chose the Notable theme:   1.      This theme is  notable  as an extension of my personality, primarily striving for organized minimalism.  I want to present you with information to quickly  grasp without clutter on your screen.  As a fellow achiever, I’d like to help you comfortably reach your goal of grasping all the information in one full swoop.     2.     This theme is  notable   for a purposeful format with one section of text with one photo.  You can chose to digest each morsel by reading the text or by looking a picture (quietly speaking a thousand words).   Once I learn how to format the phot...

Week 4 A: Working on Your Business and Your Target Market

T his week I compare two businesses in the same industry to differentiate between their target audiences based on the design of their websites.  Here are my findings: Rancho Vista Nursery: Initial thoughts:  Beautiful, thriving plants are shown.  Next to which is a blank farmshop from 2018.  Is this what it looks like today?  Why is that photo there?  It looks like they did not update their site,  I may have chosen a faint plant background to envelop the visitor and draw them in.  This theme looks a little disjointed.  The zig zag edges on the photo connotate sewing, not planting to me.  Is about us a link or is this one paragraph all they will tell me.  What an opportunity to showcase the people that work there since they have been in business for 40 years.  Maybe each person specializes in something and I would like to connect with them?  Good, they have an inte...

Week 3 Post 1 - Aesthetics, Design & Branding

After reviewing all the sites, I chose to discuss the following websites as they stood out in various ways:   https://jamilin.com First, there is so much information on the page with so many font colors, it is extremely difficult to focus on any one item and it is not clear what this company considers the most important information on the page.  It seems that the information was added to the page without an overall concept. There is no contrast to help organize the page and the alignment is mixed, even within multiple sections.  Each page has a completely different design format and it is not apparent on how to return to the home page.  In addition, for some reason, multiple images do not load. I do not think this site looks professional as the photos, type and layout does not looked planned or created to direct the visitor in a logical path.  It appears that the company may be disorganized and perhaps their offerings are not quality. To impr...
